White & Box a expanded its global debt finance practice in Madrid with the addition of a lawyer from Herbert Smith Freehills
Jaime Rossi, who has worked as counsel at HSF since 2020 and advises on financing transactions ranging from acquisition and real estate to restructuring and syndicated loans, joins the firm as a partner, according to White & Case’s announcement. Prior to his time at HSF, Rossi worked at Fieldfisher, Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer and Garrigues, where he began his legal career.
Lease follows addition of M&A Madrid partner Javier Monzonwho joined the firm earlier this summer after 16 years at Freshfields. At the time of Monzón’s hiring in June, executive committee member Oliver Brettle said the move ‘sends a clear message to the market that we are investing in Madrid for the long term’.
White & Case’s Madrid office includes more than 20 lawyers, specializing in domestic and cross-border mergers and acquisitions, capital markets and bank finance.
Partner Eric Leicht, head of the global debt finance practice, said of the hiring of Jaime Rossi: “Adding another experienced debt finance lawyer like Jaime to the combination of partners in Madrid sends a clear message that we have not settled down and that we intend to continue our run of acting for some of the largest and most sophisticated players in the Spanish market.
Brettle added: “Jaime is the fourth side partner to join our successful EMEA banking practice in 2022.” The firm’s Global Debt Finance practice in London has been hired Monica Barton of Winston & Strawn and Paul Yin from Skadden. In Paris, Neeloferr Roy joined the firm from Linklaters.
